To recreate this portrait in thread, I took a Clarence Sinclair Bull photography from 1932 as reference.

This crochet portrait of Greta Garbo has been made with vintage threads. They are a perlé cotton produced in Barcelona (Catalunya, Spain) in the twentieth century. The factory of these threads announced their closing in 2000 and now these little balls of Dalia by Fabra Coats can only be found at second hand markets and private houses.

The crochet portrait has been mounted in a white 5mm foam board. The total size of the piece is 35cm x 25cm x 1.5cm. The crochet portrait size is 20cm x 18cm aprox. (not counting the hanging threads).

One of a kind piece of art.

The piece has been treated with an acid-free textile protector to prevent decoloration. This product protects the piece and slows down the action of three types of UV rays (UVA, UVB and UVC) in the indirect exposition to sunlight. Nevertheless, do not hang this piece to direct sunlight or colors will fade with time.
